How do I keep my Kin safe?

Kik offers a way to keep your Kin safe in the case that you're logged out.

Logging out of Kik will cause you to lose your Kin balance. Any themes you've bought before will still be yours to keep! Be sure to backup your QR code with your balance frequently, so that you can restore it if something goes wrong.

For Android

Backup Kin

To backup your Kin:

1. From your main chat list, tap the + menu
2. Select Kin Marketplace Beta
3. Tap the Settings icon in the top right
4. Tap Keep your Kin Safe
5. Enter the password that you'll use to recover your Kin
   1. Confirm the password by typing it again
   2. Check off the confirmation checkbox 
   3. Tap Next
6. Tap Send QR code via Email
   1. Send yourself an email with the attached QR code image (attached as backup_qr.png by default)
   2. Tap I've saved my QR code and then X

You'll be taken back to the Settings page with the Keep your Kin Safe icon now blue instead of grey, meaning you've backed up your Kin.

Be sure to back up your Kin frequently, and keep your QR code image and password handy.

Restore Kin

Be sure to have the backup QR code image handy on your device, you'll need it to restore your balance. You can download it to your device from the email you sent in the steps above.

To restore your Kin:

1. From your main chat list, tap the + menu
2. Select Kin Marketplace Beta
3. Tap the Settings icon in the top right
4. Tap Restore previous wallet
5. Select Upload your QR code
   1. Tap OK
   2. Select the QR code image from your gallery (will be named backup_qr.png by default)
6. Enter the password associated to the QR code
   1. Tap Done
   2. Tap the Checkmark icon

Go back to the marketplace to check out your restored balance!

For iOS

The Kin Marketplace is currently not available on iOS devices.
